Luke and Heather photograph St. Martin Island for Nature Conservancy

The Nature Conservancy announces it has protected St. Martin Island in Upper Michigan. The conservancy acquired the land from the Fred Luber family, who asked Luke and Heather to photograph the island to help showcase the land they are protecting. The island provides critical stopover habitat for birds that migrate through the Great Lakes. To read more visit

Holiday Open House Friday and Saturday (Nov. 29th & 30th) after Thanksgiving

Please join us Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29th and 30th, from 10-5 at the Frykman Studio Gallery for our annual Holiday Open House. We're having a drawing and refreshments plus a slideshow of Luke and Heather's newest images.

Photo Tours

Luke and Heather offer sunset or sunrise photo tours through the gallery. If you have an evening or a morning available, just let us know a few days ahead of time to book your tour. It's about 2 1/2 hours where Luke and Heather take you to spots around the county they feel have great photographic opportunities. The tour will offer instruction as well if needed. They even do night photo tours if you are interested in shooting the night sky. The cost is $150. Book now because we have only 7 weeks before peak Fall color. If you want a more intensive 3-day photography class, Luke and Heather are teaching at the Peninsula School of Art Oct. 3-5, course #PH1317. Please give us a call if you have questions on the type of gear you should bring with you.

Spring Reception Memorial Day Weekend May 25th & 26th, 10-5

Please join us over Memorial Day Weekend for our Spring reception on Saturday and Sunday, May 25th and 26th from 10-5 to showcase new photography by Luke and Heather Frykman. The new images not only include landscapes and waterscapes of Door County, but also a selection from their recent trips to Lake Superior's Isle Royale National Park, the Smoky Mountains National Park, and Bocas del Toro, Panama.

At 4 pm Saturday, they will give a slideshow presentation on a big screen display and talk about their adventures photographing in Central America, on Lake Superior, and around Door County, chasing their “gallery shots.” David Frykman will also be showing his new oil paintings of Door County landscapes.

There will be refreshments and a drawing for a matted photograph. If you can't make it to the reception, please stop in this Summer or Fall. We're open daily 10-5.
