Please join us on May 21st and 22nd from 10-6 p.m. for our Spring opening reception at the Frykman Studio Gallery in Sister Bay, Wisconsin. The show will feature new 2011 photography by Lucas and Heather Frykman. Also featured at the gallery are hand-carved woodcarvings and oil paintings by David Frykman and pottery and sculpture by Steve Jorgenson.

Live acoustic folk music by singer/songwriter Jess Holland will be on Saturday from 4-6 p.m. Help yourselves to refreshments and sign up to win a framed photograph and carving!

Please join us over Labor Day Weekend, Sept. 4th and 5th, from 10-7 p.m. for a photography show and artist reception. The show is titled "Seasons of Washington and Rock Islands." Heather and Lucas have been photographing Washington Island and Rock Island State Park over the past year through each season. What started as a photography assignment for the Washington Island Chamber of Commerce turned into a creative excursion for the husband/wife team. If you can't make it to the opening reception, the remainder of the photographs will show through the fall. Winnipeg, Manitoba potter/sculptor Steve Jorgenson will be at the reception to talk about his new pieces as well. We hope to see you there!

David Frykman has been painting throughout his artistic career, but this will be his first exhibit of paintings at our opening reception at the gallery on May 8th and 9th. The collection is comprised of Door County landscapes and still lifes, all done in oils on canvas.

Blossom Fest Spring Opening at the Frykman Studio Gallery

The Frykman Studio Gallery of Sister Bay will be holding a spring opening reception May 8th and 9th, the weekend of Sister Bay’s Blossom Festival. The reception will be showcasing new art by Door County artists David Frykman, Heather Harle Frykman, and Lucas Frykman.

In addition to new wood carvings by woodcarver David Frykman, the gallery will be showing new oil paintings on canvas, created over this past winter by David Frykman. The paintings are a collection of Door County landscapes, boats and nautical scenes, and still lifes. Frykman has been painting throughout his artistic career, but this will be the first exhibit of his paintings.

Heather and Lucas are displaying at least 20 new large photographs, photographed in 2009, including Door County waterscapes, rustic buildings, winter scenes of Door County landmarks, and autumn scenes from Washington Island and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

The opening will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Refreshments will be served and a drawing will be held. The artists will be at the gallery, available to visit. For more information, visit www.FrykmanGallery.com or contact Heather at 920-854-7351.

Welker's Point in Peninsula State Park

I've been hiking in Peninsula State Park lately. There are so many miles of hiking and biking trails. I'll just bring the camera with me and make sure I'm in a good spot for sunset. This was taken at Welker's Point, at the northern part of the park. ~Heather
